How I Got My MAC Pro Card

What's a MAC Pro Card?

*GASPS* You don't know what a MAC Pro Card is? Ha, ha..No worries. MAC Pro is not for everyone. It's mainly for Makeup junkies (like myself), Artists and Stylist (who happen to be Makeup Junkies). This card provides the card holder with the inside scoop on MAC Cosmetics. MAC Pro offers not only a large selection of products, but there is also a huge education piece that is offered/provided for the card holder. To me, this card is more than the whopping 40% off of products that we receive (although I LOVE that part of it). I feel like I am now amongst a community of my peers who can help sculpt my artistry as I advance.

Who Can Get One?

MAC Pro is available for licensed Makeup Artist, Aesthetician, Cosmetologist, Performers/On-Air Talent, Fashion Stylist/Costume Designer, Photographer, Model, Hairstylist, and Nail Technicians. Only Makeup Artist receive the 40% discount, all other professions, receive 30% off.

How Do I Get One?

This is the tricky part, you have to PROVE your profession. First you must submit an application by downloading it here. The application must be completed in full….NO EXCEPTIONS. Along with the completed application, you must submit a clean copy of your photo ID and 2 forms of professional criteria. MAC Pro provides a list of qualifiable criteria: Composite Card, Business Card with name and specific profession, Editorial Page with name credit, Union Card, Professional License, Diploma/Certificate, Publication Masthead, Program/press Materials with name, Contract on Production Company Letterhead, Crew/Call List on Prod. Co. Letterhead, Professional Letter of Reference of Employment. Any 2 items from this list will qualify you.

Once you have all of those items, you must also submit the $35 fee for membership in the form of money order. Last you mail it in.

How Long Does It Take?

This is the hardest part of the process…THE WAIT! It took about 4 weeks for MAC Pro to receive my application. I was neurotic about calling to check on the status. Around the 5th week, I called and I was told that I was  APPROVED!! I was sooooo uber excited. About 2 weeks after being told I was approved, I received my card.

This process is not very difficult, however, you must be meticulous about sending in the required pieces of documentation. You must also have patience and understand, it could take 4-6 weeks before you hear a response. Until you do hear a response, I suggest staying busy doing what you love.

I hope this was helpful for you. If you have any specific questions, please leave them below, and I'll be happy to try to answer them for you.

Until next time…..BE BLESSED!
