Blush Is Your Friend
Choosing Blush for women of color always appears to be a challenge for many of us. It's kind of ironic because in my opinion, women of color are actually the easiest to choose blush for. Because of the beautiful undertones in our skin, most colors compliment us. For so many years, I have always heard that Women of Color should not wear blush. I never adapted to that mold, I LOVE my blush!! It's such an asset to your makeup. Why? Because the same as eyeshadow and lipstick, it adds color. Blush can be as subtle or as bold as you would like. With any look that we created, we always want it to be symmetrical. If we are bold on our eyes, we typically go lighter on the blush and the lipstick. However, we can also make our blush the focal point of our look.
I'm so glad you asked. For women of color, we have varying undertones in our skin. However in my opinion, blush is the exception to the warm/cool/neutral undertone rule. When choosing blush, I think women of color can wear all shades of blush (in moderation of course). I know it sounds crazy, but that's the beauty of having such amazing undertones in our skin. I have worn all shades from Deep WIne/Berry to Peach and Hot Pink. The beauty of blush is, it adds character and dimension to the skin. Watch the video below as I apply different shades of blush.
